Ninja Noodle Chinese and Thai Cuisine

February 02, 2014
I was in the Argyll area for some errands, so I did a quick search online for a nearby Chinese restaurant and found Ninja Noodle on Roper Rd and 75 St. Little did I know that it was primarily a takeout restaurant with only 6 stool seats facing the window. The seating wasn't the most comfortable, but the service was surprisingly good. Since it was our first time there, a friendly lady with a warm smile gave us menu recommendations. We asked for hot water and even though she said they might not have it available, she managed to bring us some warm water which was much appreciated. The place is definitely not well-prepared for dine-in customers; food was served in plastic/styrofoam takeout containers and we were given paper plates to eat on. We had yellow curry with chicken ($9.95) which didn't seem too authentic because the curry sauce was very sweet, and although fragrant, lacked a spicy kick. I kind of liked the flavour though, and honestly the dish as a whole impressed me, considering the small and unassuming storefront with cramped seating and no decor.

We also had a vegetarian dish of stir fried vegetables and fried tofu ($9.95). Pretty standard stuff with fresh crunchy veggies and a light starchy sauce.

Steamed jasmine rice was $1.95/order. There was also an option of coconut rice ($2.95).

I was happy with this quick lunch, and the food turned out better than I had expected.

If I ever order from this restaurant again though, it will definitely be takeout. The food was decent, but I felt like I was eating in a convenience store. I really don't feel comfortable when I have to sit in front of the window where everyone coming and going can see me eating.
