I was really surprised when I stepped into U and I Thai. The ambiance was unlike any other Thai restaurant I've been to. It seemed more like a trendy Western style cafe.
Beef panang ($13.95) was the first dish to arrive. The meat wasn't tender enough in my opinion, but the sauce was delicious! I loved mixing it in with the rice.
The red curry duck with lychee ($15.95) is one of the most popular dishes here, and for good reason too. The duck meat was very tender and the curry was creamy and flavourful. I had expected red curry to be super spicy, but it was not bad at all. The only problem was that the lychee wasn't very prominent.
The authentic pad thai ($12.95) was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I probably wouldn't order this again since the curry duck was much more special.
I really liked the ambiance here and the service was quite good. Water was refilled promptly, though the food took a while to come. I think this would be a good place for a date or a casual gathering.

Hmmm I might try the take out there one day.
I see it quite often, but it looks too modern to have decent thai food.
Goes to show, can't judge food by the restaurant cover.
@pyaria: Hmmm I also think the place looks a bit too trendy for an authentic Thai restaurant. Food is not bad though! But it seems to be more of a dine in place than a take out place since the decor is so fancy.
