IKEA Restaurant (Richmond)

IKEA is a furniture store as we all know, but it also offers cheap eats in the restaurant on the 2nd floor and the cafe near the exit. I've been to the exit cafe numerous times for $0.75 hot dogs and $1 yogurt cones. The yogurt is even smoother and creamier than real ice cream. This time I visited the restaurant upstairs which offers a wider menu selection including hot foods. The place is actually a cafeteria and diners line up for certain dishes to be served by the staff behind the counter. The salad bar, the soup and the organic crepes are self-serve. Beverages such as pop, coffee and bottled drinks are of course self-serve as well.

I opted for the organic crepes meal ($3.99) which includes a small salad and 2 crepes stuffed with spinach and cheese. The crepes weren't spectacular, but they were delicious in a homemade way. Nothing pretentious, just a nice hot crepe with savoury filling. And at such a cheap price, I have nothing to complain about.

I love the prices here and the food is decent. This cafeteria is a great place to grab a bite before or after a shopping trip at IKEA because it's so cheap and convenient. I should try the Swedish meatballs next time since I heard they're quite popular.

IKEA Restaurant & Cafe on Urbanspoon

  1. I like Ikea meatballs, but when it comes to hot dogs, I'd rather pay a bit more and get a Costco one....those Ikea hotdogs taste like mildly flavoured cardboard, lol!

  2. I actually recall their quiche being pretty good, though that was quite a while ago... I should probably try it again. The prices are always so attractive :)

  3. @Peter: I prefer the restaurant to the cafe! But it seems like the hot dogs and yogurt are really popular. Haven't been there much since they increased the hot dog price from $0.50 to $0.75 though... Haha I'm so cheap!

@Janice: Yes prices determine everything... The food is definitely average, but it automatically tastes better given the prices! Lol
